Summary

The Grant Writer will identify, define, and establish communication channels for SOULCHI's program activities, develop and submit proposals to various funding entities, and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the organization. The role requires a Bachelor’s degree, grant writing AND grants management experience (4 years), strong research capacity, detailed knowledge of the grant development process, fundraising practices, budget development, and grant/contract lifecycles, and a successful record of securing major grants/contracts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required with advanced communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Self-directed and independent contributor within a team environment
  • Grant writing AND grants management experience (4 years)
  • Strong research capacity, able to identify and prioritize potential funding opportunities
  • Detailed knowledge of the grant development process, fundraising practices, budget development and grant/contract lifecycles
  • Successful record of securing major grants/contracts with certifiable references

Responsibilities

  • Meets regularly with team members to discuss funding needs and opportunities
  • Researches and identifies potential government, corporate, foundation, and private funding prospects that align with SOULCHI’s priorities
  • Develops and maintains a master file of prospective funders and grant opportunities
  • Works with appropriate personnel to research, develop, write, and submit Letters of Inquiry, concept papers, grant, and proposals
  • Consistent with SOULCHI’s policies and procedures, generates high-quality proposals, narratives, applications and supporting documents in response to solicitations, thoroughly addressing the funding entity’s requirements and guidelines
  • Develops and maintains a master file of pending grants and contracts
  • Coordinates and follows-up regarding the status of submitted proposals
  • Remains up to date regarding current issues (internal and external) that may impact existing grants or funding proposals
  • Communicates opportunities or challenges to immediate supervisor regarding awarded grants or funding submissions that may require presentation to SOULCHI leadership
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding information accessed during the completion of duties

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience serving as a Team Lead within a recent grant development and grants management initiative
