Summary

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years experience supervising
  • 5+ years housekeeping experience working in a remote camp setting
  • Valid Drivers License
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant software
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions typical of Nunavut (i.e.: extreme cold weather, 24 hour darkness during the winter months, etc.)
  • Must have valid government issued photo ID for travel to site
  • Ability to handle the following physical demands: Lift, carry, push or pull up to 50 lbs
  • Climb ladders or stairs
  • Stand, walk, squat, kneel or sit according to task for extended periods of time
  • Perform repetitive hand work requiring full use of both hands
  • Perform work with arms at full length
  • Work with arms above shoulder height

Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily toolbox meetings to discuss tasks and safety
  • Implement and enforce housekeeping and janitorial maintenance policies and procedures
  • Perform daily and weekly housekeeping and janitorial audits
  • Assist in recruiting, training, and supervising a housekeeping team of up to 10 employees
  • Recommend promotions, transfers, and dismissals to management
  • Train staff on safe work practices, equipment operations, and emergency procedures
  • Manage inventory of cleaning supplies and place orders as required
  • Assist with monthly inventory counts in the housekeeping department
  • Attend all required health and safety training sessions
  • Report and address safety concerns
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, OHSA, and company policies
  • Investigate incidents, injuries, and near misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions
  • Maintain daily communication with the Lodge Manager and the Front Desk regarding room discrepancies
  • Foster a positive and cooperative work environment

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with progressive discipline and other HR related matters
