Summary
Join Recursion as the Head of Clinical Biomarkers and lead a team of scientists supporting the clinical development of approximately 10 programs. You will develop and implement biomarker strategies, manage a team, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and ensure clinical decisions are data-driven. This role requires a PhD or MS in a related field with extensive experience in clinical biomarker assay development and qualification, particularly within oncology. The position is ideally located in Salt Lake City, New York City, or Toronto, but remote work in the US or Canada is possible with regular on-site visits. Requirements
- PhD with 10+ years or MS with 15+ years of experience as a biomarker and/or translational scientist in the biopharmaceutical industry
- Degree in biology, biochemistry, or related biomedical discipline
- Strong hands-on experience with clinical biomarker assay development and qualification; experience in an oncology setting preferred
- Extensive experience contributing as a senior biomarker scientist to clinical study teams including contributing to protocols, working closely with clinical operations on logistics, and with data science/bioinformatics groups on data analysis and interpretation
- Strong working knowledge of various platforms and technologies applied for the measurement of predictive and pharmacodynamic biomarkers including ‘omics technologies
- Knowledge of regulatory expectations (FDA and EMA) and industry's best practices in bioanalytical and biomarker/diagnostic assay method development and validation
Responsibilities
- Lead the clinical biomarker function at Recursion and ensure that clinical decisions are being informed by high quality biomarker data; represent the function at key leadership meetings
- Develop and implement fit-for-purpose biomarker strategies for programs entering the clinic by working closely with drug discovery functions
- Implement innovative, noninvasive technologies for the measurement of oncology biomarkers and explore ways to feed clinical data back into Recursion’s operating system
- Manage a group of biomarker and bioanalytical scientists and support their career development while ensuring high quality delivery on the portfolio
- Drive the development and qualification of predictive and pharmacodynamic biomarker assays by working with appropriate CROs
- Collaborate with data science functions to analyze and interpret biomarker data including omics datasets to enable clinical decision making
