Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA designation preferred
  • At least 3+ years of experience in accounting in a service-based or construction-related service business
  • Strong experience in month-end close processes, financial reporting, and overseeing the production and quality of accounting work
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, Wave) and Microsoft Excel
  • Deep understanding of GAAP and regulatory compliance
  • Ability to analyze complex financial data and produce accurate financial reports
  • Proven ability to lead and develop a team of accountants
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Ability to implement and improve accounting processes and controls to enhance efficiency and accuracy
  • Experience in providing mentorship and training to junior staff members

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the entire month-end close process, ensuring that all financial data is accurate and finalized within established timelines
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
  • Maintain high standards of accuracy and quality in all accounting work, implementing quality control measures to ensure consistency and reliability
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accountants, providing guidance, training, and professional development opportunities
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and systems, enhancing efficiency and reducing errors
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for high-level accounting matters with clients, addressing their needs and providing strategic financial guidance
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal controls
  • Oversee the preparation and review of budgets, forecasts, and financial models
  • Contribute to the strategic planning process, aligning accounting objectives with the firm’s overall goals
  • Manage and optimize accounting systems and software, ensuring they meet the needs of the firm and its clients
  • Lead or support special projects as needed, such as PFG internal financial audits, system implementations, or process overhauls
  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis and reporting to senior management or clients as requested
  • Lead client intake, document collection, and coordinate with our EA or CPA to execute tax filings

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience
  • At least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role
  • Experience with job costing (and software) and project accounting is a strong plus
