Summary

Join Planet as the Head of Imagery Products and lead the product organization for Planet’s Imagery and Derived Product portfolio, including Planetscope, High Resolution Tasking, hyperspectral imagery, and derived products. You will lead a team of product professionals, further developing the organization’s people and processes. This role requires strong leadership, a hands-on mentality, and strong technical acumen to manage multiple products across a global environment. Collaborate with Marketing and Commercial teams to drive growth and market adoption. The position can be located in San Francisco, CA, Washington, DC, or remotely in North America. You will own product execution, scaling processes, and ensuring product capacity to fulfill long-term vision. Build relationships with key customers and foster a product mentality within the company.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of Product Management leadership experience overseeing successful products that have scaled and generated significant revenue; can point to clear, commercial product success in the market
  • Experience in leading an existing Product Management team where growth and development will be important
  • Experience with geospatial data, GIS, remote sensing and/or earth observation products
  • Experience in large CapEx/OpEx business and need to balance the need to go fast within a constrained budget
  • Experience managing a sophisticated product suite across multiple segments (verticals + international)
  • Proven analytical experience with measuring attributes across the sales pipeline, internal costs, and user behavior to make data-driven decisions for future investments
  • Ability to lead and influence both external customers and partners, as well as with senior management at Planet

Responsibilities

  • Own overall product execution to align company strategies toward product initiatives and roadmaps
  • Bring product scaling processes to the organization and deliver a roadmap on time with quality
  • Ensure the organization has the product capacity to fulfill the long term vision while covering near-term strategy across the suite of Planet’s products
  • Communicate Planet’s products internally to drive engineering, marketing, sales and product alignment
  • Understand and react to the competitor and partner landscape
  • Help develop pricing and business models, as appropriate
  • Build and nurture close working relationships with key customers to help guide and influence the overall direction of Planet’s imagery products
  • Nurture collaborative relationships with the existing leadership team, and work cross-functionally across sales, marketing and engineering to ensure that a Product mentality is integrated into the culture and fabric of the company

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience successfully monetizing massive data sets is highly preferred
  • Ability to listen deeply, and incorporate multiple perspectives into a coherent organizational voice, and ensure that cross-organizational priorities are aligned and incorporated
  • Experience building positive relationships with peers and others within a company
  • Ability to gather and use customer/market input in improving existing products and launching new solutions
  • Experience using data collected from sales, engineering, and finance to advocate for company investments to make decisions
  • Ability to think critically and strategically, combining analytical thinking and creativity when attacking problems
  • Ability to continually learn and foster growth and collaboration within and across teams
