Summary

Bumble is seeking a highly experienced Head of SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting to manage all SEC reporting, filings, and related analysis in accordance with U.S. GAAP. The role will be based in New York or Austin, Texas and will involve partnering with various teams, conducting accounting research, and ensuring compliance with GAAP. The ideal candidate has 15+ years of combined experience in public accounting and industry, a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, CPA designation, strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations, proficiency with researching accounting literature, and strong Excel skills.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of combined experience in public accounting and industry
  • Minimum 5 years managing SEC reporting and technical accounting function
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; CPA designation required
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations
  • Proficiency with researching accounting literature including FASB, SEC and AICPA rules and regulations
  • Ability to translate technical accounting requirements into workable steps to ensure accounting and operational processes support compliance with accounting standards

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Company's SEC reporting process, including SEC filings (10-K, 10-Q etc.) and review of the XBRL process, and other financial reporting as required
  • Collaborate with internal and external legal counsel and other business partners to support 8-K, proxy statement and other SEC filings (secondary offerings)
  • Partner with the Investor Relations team in the preparation of materials for the quarterly earnings release process and addressing investor queries related to SEC filings
  • Monitor developments and assess and communicate the effects of emerging US GAAP and SEC proposed regulations
  • Conduct accounting research and prepare position papers for technical accounting matters regarding significant and/or complex transactions
  • Partner with Controllers to ensure accounting policies are updated to reflect current business practices and compliance with GAAP and educate the global accounting organization on accounting pronouncements and application of policy
  • Participate in quarter-end close activities including complex accounting calculations and entries including stock-based compensation, earnings per share, and non-controlling interest
  • Lead the goodwill and asset impairment review process
  • Lead, manage and develop a high performing team, driving performance by setting goals and development plans and fostering an environment to achieve those goals through ongoing feedback
  • Perform SOX controls and procedures over financial reporting and accounting processes
  • Lead transformation to streamline, improve and further automate processes
  • Partner with internal and external auditors and manage audit requests to drive timely completion of quarterly reviews and annual audits
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly financial presentations for Audit Committee
  • Perform other duties as necessary or assigned

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with financial reporting, GL and equity software tools (DFIN, NetSuite, Schwab Equity View)
