Join the METRO Global Solution Center as an Indirect Tax Compliance Senior Process Expert and contribute to impactful solutions in Finance & Accounting. This role involves providing Polish and international VAT compliance support across the METRO Group, ensuring accurate indirect tax reporting. You will maintain VAT setups in SAP, oversee indirect tax reporting processes, support the business with VAT queries, and resolve compliance tasks. The position requires expertise in VAT, accounting principles, and data analysis, along with strong communication and collaboration skills. Requirements
- At least bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, tax law or related field
- At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in accounting, tax or finance functions, including tax compliance. Prior experience with ERP accounting systems (e.g., SAP/CFIN) and knowledge of VAT parameters are essential
- A solid understanding of data flows and accounting principles allowing for effective preparation of data for the completion of tax computations
- Practical knowledge of VAT specifics and indirect tax law compliance requirements, including knowledge on European VAT regulations and practical experience in applying these rules
- Excellent organizational skills, detail-orientation, and proactive approach in delivering quality results in a timely manner
- Advanced MS Excel skills and familiarity with database software / tax reporting tools
- Great interpersonal abilities to work effectively with diverse teams and resolve issues
- Fluent knowledge of English and Polish
Responsibilities
- Maintain and ensure a correct VAT set-up in our SAP-system and VAT reporting tool
- Oversee the end-to-end processes for indirect tax reporting in selected EU countries, including verification of the accuracy and completeness of indirect tax returns (and other VAT submissions such as EC Listings, SAT-Ts and Intrastat reports) prepared by our team of accountants
- Support the business with respect to VAT queries - both domestic and international ones
- Resolve VAT compliance tasks, such as providing expertise and advice on the correct accounting of business transactions and reconciliation of VAT accounts
- Build expertise and provide knowledge/consultancy to operational teams in GSC
- Ensure adequate documentation of existing processes
- Provide support in implementations related to e-invoicing / real-time reporting obligations
- Actively participate in local, regional, and global projects (including tax audits), as the need arises - provide accounting and tax expertise in such projects, support less experienced team members in VAT related topics
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in mentoring and training more junior level team members
- Any additional foreign language
- Strong preference towards the office presence of minimum 2 days a week
