Requirements

• Minimum five (5) years in coding, including four (4) years in inpatient facility coding or four (4) years in a coding auditor role with inpatient coding proficiency
• High School Diploma or GED required
• One of the following is required: Registered Health Information Technician, Coding Specialist, Registered Health Information Administrator
• Proficiency with EMR patient documentation systems and intermediate computer skills
• Advanced knowledge of disease processes, diagnostic and surgical procedures, and coding systems (ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, HCPCS/CPT)
• Strong understanding of medical terminology and coding principles
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
• Strong time management, organization, and analytical skills
• Ability to manage significant workloads and work efficiently under pressure
• Independent judgment and ethical coding practices as per AHIMA standards
• Five (5) years of experience in a health information/medical record environment, with facility coding experience including Medicare guidelines
• Degree in Health Information Management
• Proficient with EMR systems and Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to analyze data related to productivity and audits
• Extensive knowledge of ICD-10 coding guidelines and CMS HCC Risk Adjustment requirements
