  • VR development using Unity3D, Unreal Engine, or WebVR
  • 3D modeling and environment design using Blender, Autodesk Maya, or similar software
  • Experience or familiarity with programming languages used in AR/VR development, such as: C#, C++, or JavaScript Python for backend integration or prototyping

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development of AR/VR-based training simulations for automotive service technicians
  • Work closely with the instructional design team to translate real-world service procedures into interactive AR/VR modules
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prototype and test AR/VR training solutions
  • Create 3D models and interactive environments using industry-standard AR/VR software
  • Help integrate AR/VR technologies with learning management systems (LMS) and other digital platforms
  • Conduct usability testing and collect feedback to refine AR/VR tools and improve the user experience
  • Stay updated with the latest trends in AR/VR technology and automotive service training needs

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Summer Intern to join our Service Training Department and develop AR/VR training simulations for automotive service technicians. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of AR/VR technologies and be able to work independently and collaboratively to ensure our systems are functioning efficiently.

Role/Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development of AR/VR-based training simulations for automotive service technicians.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Field(s) of study: Computer Science, Software Engineering, Game Development, Interactive Media Design, Automotive Engineering with an interest in digital training tools
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD Degree program at an accredited university.
  • Proof of enrollment in current or into next program (MS, PhD)
  • Strong foundation in AR/VR technologies, with university coursework or personal projects related to AR development using platforms such as Unity3D (ARKit, ARCore) or Unreal Engine
  • VR development using Unity3D, Unreal Engine, or WebVR
  • 3D modeling and environment design using Blender, Autodesk Maya, or similar software
  • Experience or familiarity with programming languages used in AR/VR development, such as:
  • C#, C++, or JavaScript
  • Python for backend integration or prototyping
  • Knowledge of automotive systems or a desire to learn about automotive service procedures.

Program Information:

  • Timing: May- August, or June-September pending class schedules.
  • Duration of Internship: Our internship program is 12 weeks; the end date is flexible based on individual needs.
  • Work Location & Environment: This position will be in Newark, CA, and is fully in-person. You must be prepared to start onsite for your first day of employment. The working environment will be a mix of lab & office work.
  • Compensation: Student compensation is based on location and current degree level, non-negotiable ranging from $26 to $48.
  • Relocation: May be provided on a case to case basis.
  • Housing/Transportation: You must provide your own living arrangements and transportation in the local area.
  • Background Check: All offers of employment are contingent on clearing a background check.
  • Drug Screening: All offers of employment are contingent on passing a drug screen.
  • Medical benefits: Dental, vision, and medical on day 1 for all interns working full-time.
  • Visa Sponsorship: Lucid may but is not obligated to sponsor foreign national employees requiring company sponsorship for U.S employment authorization.

Compensation Range: The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.

Additional Compensation and Benefits: Lucid offers a wide range of competitive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability insurance, vacation, and 401k. The successful candidate may also be eligible to participate in Lucid’s equity program and/or a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing such programs.  (Cash or equity incentive awards, if any, will depend on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and company performance.)

Base Pay Range (hourly)

$26—$48 USD
