Intern, Chassis & Vehicle Dynamics, Summer 2025

We are actively seeking interns for our Chassis and Vehicle Dynamics team. The Vehicle Dynamics team at Lucid is responsible for simulating, testing, and tuning vehicles with a focus on vehicle performance as it pertains to handling, maneuverability, and ride comfort. Some members of the vehicle dynamics team specialize in modelling (e.g. full-vehicle modelling and driver-in-the-loop simulation), while others specialize in testing and development (e.g. evaluating prototype vehicles both on track and on the road with both objective metrics generated by data acquisition and subjective criteria).

Our ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude and approaches their work with vigor and determination. Candidates are expected to demonstrate excellence in their respective fields, to possess the ability to learn quickly, and to strive for exceptional quality within a fast-paced environment.

Role/Responsibilities:

· Apply data-driven decision making in a collaborative environment to solve complex problems and questions

· Support other engineers on the team in data collection and analysis, component/system design, vehicle modelling and simulation, project management and logistics, and prototype vehicle fleet management

· Ask questions, absorb knowledge, and make the most of this opportunity to practice and grow your skills - we’re here to help you as much as you’re here to help us!

Preferred Qualifications:

· Proven knowledge of how passenger vehicles work, particularly regarding the mechanics of suspension, steering and braking systems

· Coursework in mechanics of materials and rigid body dynamics at a university level

· A desire to apply what you know, but also question every assumption

Nice to Have:

· Hands on experience with CAD (CATIA, Solidworks, AutoCAD, Creo etc)

· Experience with scripting tools (e.g., Python, MATLAB, C++, etc.) for scientific computing and/or data analysis methods (e.g., signal processing, optimization, data representation, etc.)

· Experience with CAN tools and data acquisition equipment

· Coursework in vehicle dynamics at a university level

· Participation and leadership in Formula SAE Electric, Baja SAE, or other extracurricular automotive teams is a major plus!

Education:

· Field(s) of study: Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other related fields.

· Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree program at an accredited university.

· Proof of enrollment in current or into next program (MS)
