Summary

Join Quandela, a global leader in quantum computing, and contribute to the development of next-generation quantum photonic processors. Focus will be on modeling integrated photonic building blocks using commercial software like Lumerical. Depending on experience, the internship may involve deepening understanding of existing building blocks or exploring new functionalities. Responsibilities include conducting electromagnetic simulations and circuit modeling, designing circuit layouts, and utilizing custom libraries. The ideal candidate will be enrolled in a relevant MSc program and possess knowledge of integrated photonics modeling, Python, Git, and Lumerical. Strong data analysis, teamwork, and communication skills are essential. Requirements

  • Enrolment for the whole duration of the internship in a MSc in Physics, Telecom/Electronics Engineering, Photonics, Quantum Technologies or related fields
  • This position is only valid with an Internship Agreement
  • General knowledge of integrated photonics modelling and layout
  • Python, Git, Lumerical, simulation tools (FDTD, mode solver, EME..)
  • Great skills in data analysis
  • Capability of working in a team
  • Strong communication skills in English and French

Responsibilities

  • Focus on modeling integrated photonic building blocks (BB), which are crucial for Quandela's next-generation quantum photonic processors
  • Depending on your experience and the length of the internship, you may work on deepening the understanding of existing building blocks or exploring new functionalities
  • This role includes conducting standard electromagnetic simulations and/or circuit modelling using commercial software like Lumerical FDTD, FDE, EME or INTERCONNECT
  • Examples of building blocks that may be studied include: Integrated photonics filters/switch, High-speed modulators, Integrated single-photon detectors, Modelling of passive components such Directional couplers, ring resonators, Mach-Zehnder interferometers, compact bent waveguides using Inverse design optimizations
  • You may also participate in designing circuit layouts and models utilizing a custom library currently being developed at Quandela, along with tools like gdsfactory and KLayout
