Join Quandela, a global leader in quantum computing, for an internship focused on adapting circuit knitting strategies for Variational Quantum Algorithms (VQAs) on photonic quantum computers. The intern will investigate applying these techniques to distributed settings, assessing the impact of quantum communication noise. Responsibilities include implementing circuit knitting for VQAs, simulating distributed quantum circuit execution, designing and evaluating circuit partitioning strategies, modeling photonic network disturbances, analyzing and reporting findings, collaborating with researchers, and documenting methodologies. The ideal candidate is currently enrolled in a Master's program in a relevant field and possesses Python programming experience, an interest in photonic quantum computing and distributed systems, and strong communication skills. Requirements

  • You are currently enrolled in a Master program in Quantum Information, Physics, Mathematics or Computer Science, Electrical
  • This position is only valid with an Internship Agreement
  • Programming experience in Python
  • Interest in photonic quantum computing and distributed systems
  • Ability to work independently, think critically, and communicate technical findings effectively

Responsibilities

  • Adapt and implement circuit knitting techniques specifically tailored for Variational Quantum Algorithms (VQAs) on photonic quantum hardware
  • Simulate distributed execution of quantum circuits across multiple photonic quantum machines
  • Design, test, and evaluate various circuit partitioning (cutting) strategies with respect to performance, resource efficiency, and algorithmic accuracy
  • Model and incorporate photonic network disturbances into simulations to better approximate real-world distributed quantum computing scenarios
  • Analyze and report the advantages and limitations of proposed strategies, with an emphasis on practical applicability and scalability
  • Collaborate with researchers and engineers to integrate findings into Quandela’s software tools
  • Document all methodologies, results, and code in a clear and reproducible manner
