Italian Language Tagger/Translator

Summary

Join our team as a remote contract Italian teacher or translator to help improve our interactive reader tool! This project involves automating grammar tagging in Italian passages, requiring basic translation and grammatical feature identification. The work is estimated at 5-10 hours weekly during February and March, with potential for future similar contracts. Native Italian fluency, advanced English proficiency, and familiarity with Google Suite are essential. Experience in teaching Italian, NLP tagging, or language-related degrees are preferred.

Requirements

• Native speaker/writer of Italian
• Advanced proficiency in English
• Able to identify grammatical features like part of speech, person/number/gender, tense, etc. in Italian with the help of some guidelines
• Good familiarity with Google Suite (sheets, docs, filesharing, etc.)
• Able to attend occasional meetings on Google Meets during EST work hours
• Ability to learn new technologies

Responsibilities

• Automate grammar tagging in Italian passages
• Perform basic translation
• Identify grammatical features (part of speech, person/number/gender, tense, etc.) in Italian
• Attend a limited number of meetings to provide feedback and discuss results

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience teaching Italian to English speakers
• Experience working on natural language processing tagging projects or something similar
• Degree in language teaching, applied linguistics, or similar
• Writing or editing experience in Italian or in another language
• Experience or expertise in teaching writing or reading
