Summary

Join MATRIX, a national company committed to safety and transparency, as a Janitor/Sanitation worker at our MLA Camp in Bathurst Inlet, Nunavut. This rotational position requires a team-oriented individual with attention to detail. You will play a key role in maintaining a clean and safe work environment at our remote camp, reporting to the Lead Housekeepers. The position offers a 3-week on/3-week off rotation with all meals and accommodations provided, plus travel allowance. The successful candidate will have 1-2 seasons of experience in a remote camp setting and be legally able to work in Canada. Preference will be given to local candidates.

Requirements

  • Team player, good interpersonal skills
  • Must be acutely safety minded
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office
  • Detail oriented
  • Legally able to work in Canada
  • 1-2 Seasons working in a remote camp setting is required

Responsibilities

  • Inventory of all cleaning supplies and paper products related to office/showers/toilet facilities
  • Perform tasks according to safe work practices and safe job procedures
  • Report all incidents and accidents immediately
  • Practice good housekeeping in the work area at all times
  • Participate in daily Toolbox meetings and complete daily log
  • Cleaning and sanitizing of all toilet and shower facilities
  • Servicing Pacto toilets, daily, and helping package for incineration
  • Sweeping and mopping of all floors in toilet and shower facilities
  • Administration of waste and recycling management program
  • Wash, dry and replace bed linens as required
  • Take garbage to dumpsters
  • Clean common spaces at work site, TV room, dining room, laundry room, rec room
  • Support First cook with cleaning in kitchen as required
  • Assist with receiving of groceries on grocery days
  • Assist with cleaning and preventative maintenance on kitchen equipment
  • Participate in Mock Medivac scenarios

Preferred Qualifications

  • Valid class 5 driver's license and clean drivers abstract are an asset
  • OFA Level 1 first aid an asset

Benefits

  • Live in camp while on shift -charter flight out of local communities, Edmonton or Yellowknife, plus all meals and accommodations provided
  • Day rate $325 - based on a 12 hour shift
