Junior Backend Engineer

Join Housecall Pro, a company founded in 2013, that helps home service professionals streamline their businesses. We are a global team of over 1800 people supporting more than 40,000 businesses. This is a fully remote position with flexible hours, based in Poland, offering a competitive salary of 2500 USD per month (B2B) or 10000 PLN (B2B). We provide a MacBook and setup fee. We are looking for a software engineer with experience in Ruby on Rails and a passion for AI technologies. The role involves working with a dispersed team, so excellent communication skills are essential. We offer opportunities for professional growth and development.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering program, or equivalent work experience
• Basic experience in software engineering and motivation to develop your skills in Ruby on Rails technology
• Basic knowledge of Ruby on Rails; completing an online course combined with any engineering experience is acceptable
• Theoretical knowledge of agile frameworks (especially Scrum)
• A theoretical understanding of SOLID principles
• Fluency in Polish and English (we work in Polish teams for a US-based company)
• Demonstrate a strong passion for using AI technologies to enhance productivity, quality, and innovation
• Curiosity and drive to stay ahead of emerging AI/ML technologies and their practical applications

Responsibilities

• Develop software using Ruby on Rails technology
• Utilize AI technologies to enhance productivity, quality, and innovation
• Work effectively with a dispersed team
• Maintain and improve existing software applications

Preferred Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills
• Natural curiosity and strong motivation to constantly develop your skills and knowledge
• Practical understanding of Test-Driven Development
• Theoretical understanding of Domain-Driven Design
• Basic understanding of cloud computing and cloud platforms, preferably AWS
• Experience working with a larger group of people committing to the same project
