Summary
Join BlaBlaCar's data squads as a passionate Data Scientist to develop and deploy cutting-edge machine learning models that optimize core matching algorithms, enhance platform trust and efficiency through intelligent automation, create impactful data products, and pioneer with generative AI. You will build and ship machine learning models into production, implement intelligent solutions for fraud detection and content moderation, create data applications and dashboards, and identify and implement generative AI solutions. Your contributions will directly influence BlaBlaCar's commercial success and inform company strategy. You will collaborate with a 360Β° data team, including ML Engineers, Data Analysts, and Data Engineers. This role requires strong business acumen and data expertise.
Requirements
- Experience in data or software engineering, with an experience putting Machine Learning models in production or producing data-based applications
- Knowledge of Machine Learning theory, statistics and probabilities and/or econometrics modeling is required
- Fluency in SQL and Python
- Excellent communication skills: You are able to explain your models clearly to both analysts and decision makers
- Pragmatic approach to problems: You can design intermediate solutions in an agile environment, and put them in production
- Strong business sense: You like to partner with business managers to propose new strategies and validate their hypotheses through data
- Fluent in English
Responsibilities
- Develop & deploy ML models: Design, build, and ship machine learning models into production, collaborating closely with ML Engineers to directly enhance our core marketplace (e.g., matching, ETA)
- Implement automation of internal capabilities: Implement intelligent solutions for real-time fraud detection, utilize deep learning for profile picture moderation, and leverage LLMs for text moderation and generative AI for tasks like translation
- Build data products for business impact: Create intuitive data applications and dashboards that directly enable business teams (e.g., pricing analysts) to visualize insights, test hypotheses, and refine strategies
- Champion generative AI innovation: Actively identify, prototype, and implement generative AI solutions to enhance employee productivity and automate key operational processes
- Inform company strategy: Leverage your strong business acumen and data expertise to advocate for data-informed decisions, and impact the companyβs strategic decisions
- Collaborate across a 360Β° data team: Work within our autonomous data team, comprising ML Engineers, Data Analysts, Data Engineers, and fellow Data Scientists, managing projects end-to-end
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of main machine learning packages (scikit, XGBoost, etc) and/or MLOPs frameworks (KubeFlow, Tensor FLow, Vertex AI, etc) are a plus
- An experience in developing python data visualization apps (Streamlit, Flask, Dash, etc) is also a plus
