Junior Firewall Engineer

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field
• 3+ years of hands-on experience in firewall administration, specifically with Palo Alto, CISCO ASA, and Checkpoint products
• Thorough understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, DHCP, VPN) and firewall technologies
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage complex security systems
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, capable of working effectively in a team environment and with cross-functional teams
• Proficient in documenting processes and procedures clearly and accurately

Responsibilities

• Deploy, configure, and manage firewalls including Palo Alto, CISCO ASA, and Checkpoint to safeguard critical infrastructure and data
• Develop and maintain security policies and rules adhering to best practices, organizational requirements, and risk management frameworks
• Conduct regular system upgrades, patches, enhancements, and performance monitoring to ensure the security and efficiency of firewall operations
• Collaborate with the IT security team to devise and execute a comprehensive network security strategy
• Document all configurations, modifications, and security policies related to the firewall infrastructure
• Offer technical support and guidance to team members and other staff on network security concerns and firewall functionalities
• Stay updated on the latest cybersecurity threats, trends, technologies, and automation practices to continually enhance firewall security and operational efficiency

Preferred Qualifications

• Certification in Palo Alto (e.g., PCNSE), CISCO, Checkpoint, and/or CISSP
• Familiarity with scripting and automation tools (Python, Bash) for efficient firewall management, rule provisioning, and log analysis automation
• Experience in implementing and managing advanced firewall features such as intrusion prevention systems (IPS) and application layer filtering
