Requirements

  • Have experience in product and underwriting in the personal or commercial motor insurance sector (we think this would be 1+ years)
  • Understand the insurance regulatory landscape well and are familiar with insurance market structures, market cycles and insurance operations, including compliance and regulatory issues
  • Have a knowledge of the tools and models used in the underwriting process
  • An interest in how to develop underwriting guidelines whether or not there are reference guides to evaluate the exposures, historical data to evaluate loss potential or established rating bases for pricing
  • Have worked in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to deliver optimal results for the business, including insurers, suppliers and claims management companies
  • Have an interest in developing policy wording / contract language and becoming comfortable consulting with Legal and Claims teams to determine intent of coverage language
  • Have a good knowledge of data gathering and manipulation techniques; a strong command of Excel and excellent analytical abilities including mathematics and statistical concepts

Responsibilities

  • Support the underwriting strategy and ongoing development of our motor portfolio
  • Work across Business As Usual tasks as well as helping identify areas to automate and innovate to help achieve profitability & growth goals, working in close collaboration with the Customer Support, Sales and Technology teams
