Lead Data Engineer

Summary

Join 540 as a Lead Data Engineer to lead various financial management data initiatives related to Advana and the Army's ARES data community. This role involves building and managing data products by aggregating data from diverse DoD and Army systems. You will be the primary technical contact for projects, guiding the platform's vision and collaborating with the Advana team. The position is remote within the continental US (East Coast hours) with occasional travel. A US citizenship and active DoD Secret clearance are required. The ideal candidate possesses extensive experience in data engineering, Python, and data analytics tools.

Requirements

• 8+ years of related experience
• Be well-versed in Python
• Have experience building and managing data pipelines
• Be proficient in data analytics tools such as Databricks
• Have experience building dashboards using PowerBI and/or similar data analytics tools
• Have experience working via the terminal / command line
• Have experience consuming data via APIs
• Have hands-on experience using Jira and Confluence
• Be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret clearance
• Have a Bachelor’s Degree

Responsibilities

• Work directly with government leadership managing teams, customers, and data requirements
• Assist Audit teams with monthly data ingestions from Army systems
• Manage data initiatives and small projects from start to finish
• Work with Army FM&C Lead to prioritize Advana data product requirements
• Develop recurring and ad hoc financial datasets
• Develop Advana datasets and analytical products to enable the Army reporting on all Financial System data
• Review data pipeline code via GitLab to ensure it meets team and code standards
• Oversee overall architecture and technical direction for FM&C data projects

Preferred Qualifications

• Have AWS cloud experience
• Have experience maintaining data pipelines with tables containing over a billion rows / records
• Have experience building, deploying and managing Qlik dashboards
• Have experience in or with Advana
• Have experience with GitLab
• Have experience working with DoD systems
• Have experience working with financial systems
