Lead Product Designer, Design Systems

Summary

Join League as a Lead Product Designer to spearhead the development of Genesis, our Design System, and establish experience standards for product teams. This hands-on role blends visual design with systems thinking, technical understanding, and a forward-thinking approach to AI in design. You will lead the design strategy, component architecture, documentation, and adoption of Genesis across various platforms. Collaborate with engineers, designers, and product leaders to ensure scalability and quality. If you are passionate about creating cross-platform experiences, accessibility, and the intersection of design systems and AI, this is the ideal role. You will own the design system roadmap, design and maintain components, lead system audits, partner with engineering, mentor other designers, and explore AI applications in design workflows. Evangelize design systems company-wide, fostering consistency and platform thinking.

Requirements

• 6+ years of Product Design experience
• 2+ years focused specifically on design systems, including component architecture and cross-functional scaling
• Expert-level Figma experience, including building complex components, token structures, and design system best practices
• Strong interaction and visual design skills, with an eye for craft, clarity, and consistency
• Strong technical fluency, comfortable working with engineers, reading and writing code, and understanding implementation trade-offs
• Deep understanding of accessibility principles (WCAG), usability heuristics, and platform-specific conventions
• Proactive and practical, values progress over perfection
• Curious about emerging technologies and have explored or applied AI in design or system workflows
• Experience working in a collaborative, cross-functional product development environment
• Comfortable working independently and owning your space, but also collaborative and supportive of others

Responsibilities

• Own the vision and roadmap for our design system and component libraries in collaboration with product and engineering
• Design and maintain scalable, accessible, and visually harmonious components and UX patterns across platforms (Web, iOS, Android, SDUI)
• Lead system audits and evolve foundational tokens (e.g., color, type, spacing), interaction patterns, and contribution guidelines
• Partner with engineering to ensure design-system components are robust, performant, and easy to implement
• Guide and mentor other designers contributing to or consuming the system, elevating their use of design systems in product work
• Shape and enforce standards for quality and documentation, ensuring Genesis is usable and adopted widely
• Explore and prototype ways AI can enhance design system workflows, from component generation to documentation automation
• Evangelize design systems across the company, building relationships with product teams and advocating for consistency, reuse, and platform thinking
• Compliance with Information Security Policies

• Responsibility and accountability for executing League's policies and procedures
