Lead Software Architect

Requirements

• Have a solid software engineering background, with 10+ years of experience developing enterprise-scale cloud-based software
• Have experience migrating or transforming legacy monolithic solutions to decoupled components/services
• Have experience developing large-scale application architectures to meet business requirements
• Have a solid understanding of software quality and architectural risk assessment and mitigations
• Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Have the ability to communicate complex technical information to non-technical audiences
• Have expertise in AWS, Kubernetes, Kafka, Gitlab, GitlabCI

Responsibilities

• Create solution architecture to address complex problems at scale, considering technical and business factors and the trade-offs between immediate requirements and a long-term vision for a clean and maintainable design
• Help drive complex technical projects from planning through execution
• Experiment with new technologies and create prototypes for the development teams
• Empower distributed and remote development teams with framework implementations, knowledge sharing, and sustainable practices
• Lead the development and adoption of strategy, frameworks, best practices, and patterns for the software development organization
• Nurture engineers to think with architecture and design best practices in mind, including aspects such as performance, scalability, maintainability, and security
• Promote and drive innovation in technologies, processes, and tools
• Develop strategies to realize significant cost savings with reusability

Preferred Qualifications

• Have 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role
• Have 5 years of experience in healthcare and genomics
• Have 5 years of experience building applications in AWS
• Have 2 years of experience in data privacy
• Have knowledge of LIMS, WDL, Snakemake, Nextflow, DNAnexus, AWS Omics, etc
• Have expertise in programming languages like Java, Python, React, etc
• Have experience in AI/ML
