Summary

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, aerospace, electrical engineering or other related fields
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with mechanical, structural, propulsion, fluid systems, flight hardware, or test operations
  • Proven ability to thrive in ambiguous environments with aggressive timelines
  • High levels of autonomy, self-motivation, and problem-solving ability
  • Knowledge of hazardous systems (high pressure, cryogenic, flammable, hypergolic, pyrophoric)
  • Strong familiarity with instrumentation and control systems (e.g., PLCs, high-speed data acquisition, pressure transducers, thermocouples, RTDs, strain gauges, accelerometers, flow meters, load cells, relays, solenoid valves)
  • Proficiency in data analytics using code-based tools (Python, R, MATLAB, NI LabVIEW)
  • Demonstrated experience in root cause and failure analysis
  • Experience writing and optimizing high risk technical procedures and work instructions
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation, including manuals, data reports, schematics, and design specifications
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Responsibilities

  • Develop automated test systems for design characterization and validation
  • Lead the end-to-end technical testing process, from requirements gathering to deployment and maintenance
  • Provide real-time support for technicians during test operations
  • Conduct real-time and post-test data reviews to evaluate the performance of test articles and systems (fluid, structural, thermal, electrical)
  • Document test results and recommend areas for upgrades or improvements
  • Create detailed test cases and operating procedures for test systems
  • Identify and mitigate system pitfalls and potential hazards, collaborating with design engineers to improve flight hardware and processes
  • Serve as the safety authority, ensuring all operations are conducted in a secure and compliant manner

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted
  • Work in environments with exposure to fumes, odors, and noise
  • Occasional work in extreme outdoor conditions (heat, cold, rain)
