Join Wakam's Underwriting team in the UK to lead Non-Motor (Home, SME & Consumer Lines) underwriting. You will report to the UK Chief Underwriting Officer and be responsible for distribution, underwriting, and product strategy. The ideal candidate possesses deep understanding of UK property insurance underwriting principles, experience in connectivity and gig economy products, strong financial and customer service skills, and proven leadership abilities. Requirements
- Deep understanding of insurance underwriting principles, including risk assessment, pricing, and policy issuance for property insurance products in the UK
- Experience of underwriting products in connectivity and gig economy
- Deep understanding of the insurance industry, including market trends, competition, and opportunities
- Well-versed in underwriting policies and procedures, able to ensure underwriters comply with company standards and regulatory requirements and shape the company’s underwriting guidelines
- Ability to assess and mitigate risks associated with insurance underwriting decisions
- Strong financial skills – able to set business forecasts, monitor budgets and ensure profitability
- Strong customer service skills – with a focus on customer satisfaction and consumer duty
- Solid understanding of insurance regulations and compliance requirements
- Strong analytical and reporting skills, and the ability to assess and report on insurance risk effectively
- Proven leadership and stakeholder management skills
- Risk management orientation: vigilant in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks associated with insurance underwriting decisions and market dynamics

Responsibilities
- Leading the distribution, underwriting and product strategy for property (Home & SME) and Consumer lines working with revenue, claims and other
- Growing property lines and consumer profitability and in-line with our financial objectives
- Accountable for the underwriting results for non-motor products
- Deliver effective portfolio management
- Management of Delegated Authority and the interactions with the market (MGAs, Brokers and Direct clients)
- Responsible for Product Governance activities
- Acting as a product and market expert across the UK and Europe
