Linguist/Speech Data Verifier

Summary

Join DataForce by TransPerfect as a Freelance Linguist/Audio Data Verifier and contribute to enhancing AI-driven speech recognition and generation assistants. This remote, flexible-schedule position requires a minimum of 20 hours per week until the end of March 2025. You will listen to and review short English audio recordings, correcting and refining pre-annotated descriptions. The ideal candidate possesses a linguistics degree, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to work independently. This is a freelance/independent contractor role offering the opportunity to work on an innovative project with a leading language and technology solutions provider.

Requirements

• Idiomatic fluency in US English
• Degree in linguistics or related field (phonetics, phonology, speech pathology, etc.)
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines effectively
• Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to deliver error-free work
• Availability to work a minimum of 20 hours per week
• Interest in language technologies

Responsibilities

• Listen to short English audio recordings
• Review, correct, refine, and/or expand pre-annotated descriptions/labels
• Accurately reflect voice characteristics and speech delivery

Preferred Qualifications

• Phonetics/phonology expertise
• Relevant experience in data analysis, labelling, speech/text-to-speech technology, and/or audio annotation
• Familiarity with online annotation tools
