Live English Transcriptionist / Stenographer

Summary

Join DataForce by TransPerfect as a Live English Transcriptionist/Stenographer for a 6-month temporary, full-time remote position! Accurately transcribe live virtual meetings in real-time, ensuring every word and gesture is captured. Maintain confidentiality and deliver final transcriptions within 24 hours. You will also support various language-related tasks, including non-live audio transcription, data creation, annotation, and language data validation. This role requires a minimum of 2 years of experience in live, real-time English transcription, fluency in English, excellent grammar and orthography skills, and proficiency with Google Workspace. A stable internet connection is necessary, and equipment will be provided.

Requirements

• Candidates selected for an interview will be required to participate in a live, 10-minute transcription test as part of the qualification process
• Minimum 2 years of experience transcribing live, real-time events in English
• Idiomatic fluency in English
• Excellent knowledge of English grammar and orthography
• Comprehensive understanding of the conventions followed during transcription
• Completed courses in typing / stenography
• Shorthand typing speed
• Proficiency using Google Workspace/Suite products
• Stable internet connection and comfortable working with Google Chromebook (Note: equipment will be provided)
• Excellent active listening skills and strong attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently

Responsibilities

• Transcribe all spoken information during calls without relying on recordings or Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) support. The focus is to provide an exact written record of the meetings as they happen
• Ensure all spoken information and gestures are correctly captured during the virtual meeting
• Final transcription for the virtual meetings must be delivered within 24 hours after participating in the meeting
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and accuracy

Preferred Qualifications

• NCRA certification is a plus
• Experience with steno machines is a plus
