Machine Learning Engineer, Remote - Canada

Summary

The role involves building AI/ML solutions to optimize the security and efficiency of the embedded finance ecosystem, focusing on fraud detection, transaction enrichment, dispute processing, AML, and sanction screening.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Math, or a related field
• Proven experience in cloud platforms, machine learning infrastructure/platform, cloud computing, Infrastructure as Code
• Proficient in programming languages such as Python or R and familiar with ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.)
• Strong understanding of data structures, data modeling, software architecture, and large scale computing systems
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain the ML infrastructure to allow machine learning scientists and data scientists to develop, train, evaluate, deploy, and operate ML models and systems
• Iterate model development life cycle to boost productivity and innovation pace
• Use software development expertise to tackle complex infrastructure and architecture challenges
• Lead other engineers to drive ML projects from technical design to launch
• Collaborate with product teams and stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions
• Participate in strategic discussions to enhance data-driven decision-making processes within the company
• Provide insights and recommendations based on model outcomes and data analysis
• Stay abreast of the latest developments in machine learning and payment technologies
• Explore new data sources and modeling techniques to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of existing models
• Initiate and lead projects that apply cutting-edge machine learning techniques to solve new and existing problems in the payment industry

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with NLP techniques for cleansing and interpreting textual data
• Knowledge of regulatory frameworks affecting the payment and finance industries (e.g., GDPR, PCI-DSS)
• Familiarity with DevOps/MLOps tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Sagemaker, MLflow) to streamline model deployment
