Machine Learning Engineering Intern

Summary

Join Airbnb's 2025 Summer Internship Program as a Software Engineering Intern and contribute to the Search Relevance and Personalization team. The internship runs from June 2, 2025, to August 22, 2025. You will work on a capstone project exploring new advancements in ML and AI applied to search relevance and personalization. This is a US-remote eligible position, requiring work authorization. The internship is open to Doctorate students with at least one semester remaining after the internship, graduating between December 2025 and January 2026. Requirements

• This internship opportunity is for Doctorate students with at least 1 semester of school remaining after the internship ( expected graduation between December 2025 - January 2026 )
• Studying Computer Science or a related field
• Knowledge of Computer Science fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, design patterns, etc
• Proficient in one or more of the following languages and tools: Python, Pytorch, C++, SQL, Spark, Scala
• Work authorization for employment in the United States is required (CPT/OPT is accepted) - visa sponsorship is unavailable

Responsibilities

• Own and drive a capstone project from beginning to end
• Collaborate with multiple team members to achieve project milestones
• Communicate with stakeholders across different teams to provide project updates
• Proactively seek and provide feedback throughout the internship
• Actively participate in and contribute to the Engineering org and broader Airbnb community

Preferred Qualifications

• Publications in top Machine Learning, Computer Vision or NLP conferences are a big plus
• Professional (full-time) experience as a software engineer/developer or intern is a plus
• Leadership position, community involvement, and or teaching/mentoring experience is a plus!
