Mainframe Middleware Engineer

Summary

Join ALTER SOLUTIONS, a company providing IT services, as a CICS Systems Programmer. Support different versions of CICS, upgrade environments, solve complex problems, and support clients with CICS Web Service.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a CICS Systems Programmer
• Experience with CICS TS version 3.2 or higher
• Knowledge of handling capacity and performance issues
• Ability to read and debug mainframe core dumps (detailed error reports)
• Familiarity with mainframe tools like TSO (Time Sharing Option), ISPF (Interactive System Productivity Facility), SDSF (System Display and Search Facility), and JCL (Job Control Language)
• Experience with CICS TS working with DB2 databases
• Skill in researching technical issues and finding software solutions

Responsibilities

• Support different versions of CICS
• Upgrade CICS Transaction Server (TS) environments to new releases
• Support and upgrade CICSPlex SM (System Manager) environments, which help manage multiple CICS systems
• Solve complex CICS problems effectively and quickly with minimal assistance and direction
• Support on-call 24/7
• Support clients with CICS Web Service

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with z/OS Connect and RestAPI
• Familiarity with monitoring tools like Omegamon XE or TMON
• Experience with programming languages such as Assembler, REXX, and other scripting languages
• Experience with high-availability applications
