Summary

Join our team as a skilled Mainframe Systems Analyst! This role demands expertise in Assembler, FOCUS, and REXX, along with a deep understanding of mainframe environments. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, analyze requirements, document functionality, and translate legacy code. Experience with modernization efforts and modern integration techniques is crucial. A minimum of 10 years of experience and a Master's degree are required. This is a remote position, but the client is based in Dayton, OH, and requires US citizenship and the ability to obtain Public Trust clearance.

Requirements

  • Have minimum 5 years’ experience in mainframe programming including but not limited to platforms like JCL, Assembler, REXX, FOCUS, COBOL along with the ability to adapt and integrate with modern technologies
  • Be familiar with Assembler, Rexx, Focus, JCL, control M, or equivalent, as well as knowledge of mainframe best practices
  • Have proven experience with legacy language models, with specific expertise in Assembler, FOCUS, JCL, COBOL, and REXX
  • Work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with hybrid teams across different time zones
  • Have excellent communication skills, able to explain complex technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Be able to navigate Workflow, Agile Scrum, and Project Management tools (Jira, MS Project, Visio, Word, Excel, SharePoint, and Business Process / Rules repositories)
  • Have proven understanding and application of Waterfall, Agile Scrum, and Kanban software development methodologies
  • Have 10 years experience and MA/MS Degree Level
  • Be a US Citizen
  • Be able to obtain a Public Trust

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze requirements, document functionality, translate and document legacy code & business rules / logic
  • Work in a project-based environment using leading project management practices including schedule management, status reporting, and communication of project risks and issues
  • Have experience with modernization efforts, such as migrating legacy applications to modern platforms
  • Know modern integration techniques, such as APIs, web services, microservices, and knowledge of mainframe best practices
  • Estimate effort and complexity for user stories and tasks during sprint planning with functional and developers
  • Participate in knowledge-sharing sessions and contribute to the development of internal documentation and training materials
