Summary
Join Precision Medicine Group as a remote Legal Counsel based in Costa Rica, providing legal support and guidance on contract negotiation and other contractual matters. You will serve as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, and suppliers on contractual issues. Key responsibilities include drafting, reviewing, and negotiating various legal agreements, providing timely legal counsel to internal business units, researching and evaluating legal risks, and advising on regulatory compliance. Success in this role requires strong communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills, along with a minimum of 8 years of experience in contract drafting, review, and negotiation. The ideal candidate will possess experience in the healthcare/pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry and familiarity with data privacy regulations. This position offers the opportunity to work remotely and collaborate with U.S.-based teams.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor degree or equivalent from accredited law school
- Licensed attorney as appropriate for local jurisdiction
- Minimum of 8 years of experience with contract drafting, review and negotiation
- Ability to establish strong working relations with internal and external clients
- Exemplary organizational skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work independently, with limited supervision
- Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills
- Ability to stay focused, effective and efficient in managing multiple priorities
- Demonstrated willingness to listen and learn and proven ability to make and respectfully explain proper decisions (even when this leads to tough business discussions)
- Proficiency in MS Office and other business applications
- Must be able to read, write, speak fluently and comprehend the English language
Responsibilities
- Drafting, review, and negotiation of all kinds of legal agreements including master services agreements, vendor agreements, statements of work, data processing agreements, standard contractual clauses, confidentiality agreements, amendments, among others
- Providing accurate and timely counsel to the different internal business units and executives
- Researching and evaluating risk factors associated with business decisions and operations, and advising on possible legal issues
- Advising on legal risks and regulatory compliance in a cross-border business context
- Familiarity with data privacy regulations
- Ability to work effectively across diverse cultural and geographic boundaries and multiple time zones
- Collaborating with U.S. based teams or stakeholders, with a strong understanding of U.S. business practices, communication styles, and regulatory environments
- Communicating with external and internal parties creating relationships of trust
- Keeping business stakeholders properly and timely informed of the progress and status of the contracts
- Keeping track of the contracting processes in the contract management and repository systems, facilitating the signature process, and uploading contracts
- Maintaining current knowledge of changes in business law, contracts legislation, privacy regulations and other applicable laws
- Conducting your work with the highest degree of integrity, responsibility, and excellence in client service
- Other duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications
- Contracting experience in healthcare/pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry
- Legal experience in a global or multinational organization
- Utilization of contract management system and maintenance of contracts metrics
