Math Item Writer

Summary

Join IXL Learning, a leading EdTech company, as a 1099 contractor math item writer! Collaborate with our curriculum designers to create engaging and challenging math problems for elementary and middle school students. This remote, 6-month contract (with potential extension) allows you to contribute to impactful educational products used by millions. You will write creative word problems, develop age-appropriate explanations, and collaborate with a team to meet deadlines. A background in mathematics and strong writing skills are essential. Prior experience in math item writing is a plus.

Requirements

• BA/BS degree in mathematics or mathematics education; currently enrolled students are welcome to apply
• Solid writing and grammar knowledge, with the ability to match writing style to provided examples
• Strong knowledge of elementary and middle school math curriculum is required

Responsibilities

• Write engaging and challenging math problems, primarily word problems, to meet specific educational objectives, based on sample problems provided by IXL's curriculum design team
• Develop age-appropriate, mathematically precise explanations
• Collaborate with math curriculum designers to meet project deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

Prior math item writing experience is preferred
