Summary

Join Sleep Doctor as Medical Director to lead and expand our virtual sleep medicine program. You will develop and oversee clinical protocols, ensuring regulatory compliance and providing medical supervision to a growing team. This role requires deep expertise in sleep medicine and leadership in a fast-paced digital health environment. The position reports to the CEO and can be based in our Seattle office or remotely. Responsibilities include clinical leadership, program strategy and quality, regulatory and licensing compliance, and thought leadership. Requirements

  • Medical degree (MD or DO) with active U.S. license
  • Board certification in Sleep Medicine (REQUIRED)
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience , ideally including telemedicine and leadership roles
  • Experience in developing and scaling clinical protocols and teams
  • Deep understanding of sleep disorders (especially sleep apnea and insomnia), home sleep diagnostics, and treatment modalities
  • Passion for transforming sleep quality for patients through telehealth innovation and world-class clinical operations
  • Strong communication and collaborative leadership skills
  • Active or eligible for multi-state licensure (50-state preferred)
  • Experience supervising advanced practice providers and remote clinical teams
  • Familiarity with digital health tools , remote monitoring, and healthcare technology platforms

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the lead physician for Sleep Doctor’s virtual care programs focused on sleep disorders including obstructive sleep apnea and insomnia today, and potentially others as we grow
  • Lead the development and implementation of clinical protocols, including diagnostic criteria, treatment plans, and prescribing standards
  • Provide clinical oversight and mentorship to a multidisciplinary team including nurse practitioners, respiratory therapists , and RPSGTs
  • Partner with product, operations, and engineering teams to ensure telehealth care models are evidence-based, scalable , and patient-centric
  • Define and monitor clinical KPIs , quality assurance initiatives, and provider performance metrics
  • Help drive adoption of best practices in remote diagnosis, treatment planning, and adherence monitoring , including via home sleep testing and PAP therapy
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with state and federal medical regulations , HIPAA, and telehealth-specific clinical guidelines
  • Serve as the supervising physician for a nationwide team (a 50-state license is ideal but not required)
  • Represent Sleep Doctor externally in medical forums, publications, and strategic partnerships
  • Contribute to clinical content and education across digital channels as a key thought leader in virtual sleep medicine
