Join Acadia Pharmaceuticals as a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) or Senior MSL, supporting medical and scientific initiatives across various therapeutic areas. You will cultivate relationships with healthcare practitioners, educate them on Acadia's therapies, and ensure key opinion leaders have access to current medical information. Responsibilities include identifying and developing relationships with thought leaders, providing research trial support, delivering scientific presentations, and collaborating with internal departments. The ideal candidate possesses an advanced scientific degree (MD, PharmD, PhD), significant pharmaceutical industry experience (including MSL experience), and strong communication and presentation skills. Requirements
- Advanced degree (MD, PharmD, PhD) in a scientific discipline or related field
- Targeting 7 years of progressively responsible experience within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry, including 3 years as an MSL
- Expert scientific and pharmaceutical knowledge, with an emphasis in the rare disease
- Knowledge of regulatory, compliance, commercial, and clinical issues affecting the pharmaceutical and managed care industries
- Knowledge of customer segments and market dynamics
- Excellent planning and organizational skills
- Ability to take initiative and demonstrate follow-through skills
- Highly developed interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams
- Excellent communication skills, including written and oral format
- Strong presentation capabilities including external formats such as physician gatherings, medical congresses, etc
- Demonstrated expertise in drug information communication
- Skills in instructional design, teaching, and training
- High level of aptitude for relevant PC and software programs, including MS Office skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point)
- Ability to travel up to 75% of time, with primary residence within the territory area
Responsibilities
- Identifies and develops relationships with national and regional medical and scientific thought leaders, patient advocacy groups, and centers of excellence consistent with the strategy and objectives of Acadiaโs Medical Affairs Department
- Engages national and regional thought leaders to align interests, discuss research and medical information, and participate in scientific exchange and education about current and emerging therapies
- Provides research trial site support and investigator-initiated research proposal cultivation and facilitation
- Provides appropriate scientific, clinical and educational support and presentations for national or regional accounts and organizations
- Identifies disease concepts and compound characteristics that can be leveraged into product differentiation
- Provide appropriate scientific, clinical, and educational support for internal and external clients
- Represents the company at specific continuing educational events, programs, medical meetings and conventions
- Supports commercial operations by participating in Speaker and Sales Representative Training
- Partners with the internal departments to ensure accurate delivery of medical and scientific information
- Cross-functionally collaborates, following all compliance guidelines, with regional field leadership partners including Regional Business Leaders (RBL) and Account ย Business Managers (ABMs)
- Provides field strategic insights
- Participates as a Therapeutic Lead/expert
- Leads and/or participates on project teams as necessary
- Performs other duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications
Focus on rare diseases, epilepsy, neurology or psychiatry is strongly preferred
