Summary

Join Chamberlain University as a Visiting Professor and share your expertise in microbiology with undergraduate BSN nursing students. This role involves developing and delivering course materials for Fundamentals of Microbiology with Lab (BIOS-242), utilizing online technologies and fostering a positive learning environment. You will be responsible for creating and grading exams, providing timely feedback, and adhering to established syllabus templates. The ideal candidate possesses a master's or doctorate in a related field with significant microbiology coursework, exceptional teaching skills, and a passion for nursing education. Compensation ranges from $715 to $1950 per earned credit hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

Requirements

  • Earned a master's or doctorate degree in Microbiology, Biology or very closely related field with a required minimum of 18 or more graduate credit hours earned directly in microbiology
  • Have taught or been told you’re a “natural” at teaching and helping others learn
  • Are able to provide official transcripts for all earned degrees from a regionally accredited institution (or a NACES approved US course-by-course equivalency evaluation for degrees earned and conferred outside of the US)

Responsibilities

  • Develops and provides students with an approved Adtalem Global Education syllabus that follows a template established by the local campus, and which includes the terminal course objectives
  • Organizes, prepares, and regularly revises and update all course materials
  • Uses appropriate technological options for online technologies and course-related software, including Websites, e-mail, and online discussions for preparing the course and making it accessible to students
  • Models effective oral and written communications that engage the students, provide clarity, and improve student learning
  • Sets clear expectations for the course by publishing course terminal objectives, assignment/examinations dates, and weight the distribution of various evaluation categories
  • Ensures that the content and level of material included on exams correspond to the course terminal objectives
  • Demonstrates consistency and fairness in the preparation and grading of exams, and provide timely feedback to students
  • Completes other duties as assigned
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Complies with all policies and standards
