Microsoft 365 Tenant Migration Engineer

Join us at Virtual Technologies Group for an opportunity to tackle complex technology challenges and make a significant impact. We are seeking a talented Microsoft 365 Tenant Migration Engineer for a contract project to support a large migration for a new VTG customer.

Requirements

• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Proven experience in Microsoft 365 tenant migrations, including hands-on experience with migration tools and techniques
• Strong understanding of Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, and Teams
• Experience with tenant-to-tenant migrations and SharePoint Online migrations in hybrid environments
• Proficiency in Azure Active Directory and its integration with Microsoft 365 services, including migrating AD User and Group objects (Azure AD, EntraID)
• Familiarity with public folder management in Microsoft 365

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive migration strategy for moving Microsoft 365 tenants, including assessment of current environment and identification of potential challenges
• Execute tenant migrations, including data transfer, configuration, and validation of Microsoft 365 applications (Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, etc.), with a focus on tenant-to-tenant and SharePoint Online migrations in hybrid infrastructures
• Facilitate user account migrations, ensuring proper license assignment, security settings, and user access during the transition, including the migration of AD User and Group objects (Azure AD, EntraID)
• Manage and migrate public folders as part of the overall migration process
• Manage and configure Azure Active Directory to ensure seamless integration with Microsoft 365 services, including user provisioning and synchronization
• Work closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to communicate migration timelines, processes, and any potential disruptions
• Provide support for Windows (95%+) and Mac (<5%) clients during the migration process
• Identify and resolve any technical issues that arise during the migration process, providing support to users as needed
• Create and maintain detailed documentation of migration plans, processes, and outcomes to ensure knowledge transfer and compliance
• Conduct post-migration assessments to ensure the success of the migration and gather feedback for continuous improvement

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with PowerShell scripting for automation of migration tasks
• Knowledge of third-party migration tools and their capabilities
• Familiarity with data compliance regulations and best practices
