Summary

Join Wellhub, a corporate wellness platform, as a Mid-Level Backend Developer in Portugal. Contribute to the development and maintenance of Wellhub's app, frontend, and backend services. Collaborate with product, UX, and data teams to enhance user experience. Focus on creating new products to boost user engagement and retention through experimentation. Take ownership of key features, perform code reviews, and participate in architectural decisions. Ensure high code quality standards and promote best practices. This role requires experience in designing and developing complex web applications, RESTful web services, and working with various technologies.

Requirements

  • Experience designing and developing complex modern web applications
  • Experience in developing RESTful web services collaborating with front end teams to create mocks, define payloads, and HTTP status of APIs
  • Experience with at least one programming languages such as Go, Kotlin or Java
  • Experience with SQL/NoSQL technology such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB, understanding common use cases and performance pitfalls
  • Experience dealing with event-driven architectures and message brokers such as RabbitMQ, KAFKA, AWS SQS, AWS SNS, etc
  • Experience applying computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithm design, problem-solving, and complexity analysis
  • Experience with monitoring, observability, and KPIs tracking
  • Experience with microservices and high-volume distributed systems
  • Experience with Cloud-based architectures
  • Strong communication skills, including verbal and written English and Portuguese
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline or equivalent practical experience
  • Prior expertise with Java, Kotlin, or Golang
  • Experience with microservices and high-volume distributed systems
  • Experience with cloud computing

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Wellhub's App, frontend, and backend services
  • Collaborate with product, UX, and data teams to create an excellent experience for the users of our platform
  • Create new products that can boost user engagement
  • Make sure design docs are up to date
  • Interact with the product team and other business stakeholders in a highly collaborative, agile environment
  • Take ownership of some key features, perform pull request reviews, and take part in all the architectural decisions of the squad
  • Simplify the scope of what you are constantly developing
  • Ensure successful deliveries and promote the long-term technical health of our journeys
  • Ensure a high bar on code quality standards, making sure devs are proud of their work
  • Spread development best practices such as code reviews, pair programming, TDD, etc
  • Take part in incident resolution and troubleshooting in production
