Mid-level Backend Software Engineer

Summary

Join Wellhub, a corporate wellness platform, as a Mid-Level Backend Developer in Portugal. Contribute to the development and maintenance of Wellhub's app, frontend, and backend services. As part of the Challenges & Gamification team, you will create new products to boost user engagement and improve the user experience. You will collaborate with product, UX, and data teams in a highly collaborative, agile environment. This role requires experience in designing and developing complex web applications, RESTful web services, and working with various programming languages and technologies. Requirements

• Experience designing and developing complex modern web applications
• Experience in developing RESTful web services collaborating with front end teams to create mocks, define payloads, and HTTP status of APIs
• Experience with at least one programming languages such as Go, Kotlin or Java (our main language is Golang)
• Experience with SQL/NoSQL technology such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB, understanding common use cases and performance pitfalls
• Experience dealing with event-driven architectures and message brokers such as RabbitMQ, KAFKA, AWS SQS, AWS SNS, etc
• Experience applying computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithm design, problem-solving, and complexity analysis
• Experience with monitoring, observability, and KPIs tracking
• Experience with microservices and high-volume distributed systems
• Experience with Cloud-based architectures
• Strong communication skills, including verbal and written English and Portuguese
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline or equivalent practical experience
• Prior expertise with Java, Kotlin, or Golang

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Wellhub's App, frontend, and backend services
• Create new products that can boost user engagement
• Improve the user experience
• Collaborate with product, UX, and data teams
• Take ownership of some key features
• Perform pull request reviews
• Take part in all the architectural decisions of the squad
• Take part in incident resolution and troubleshooting in production
• Spread development best practices such as code reviews, pair programming, TDD, etc
