Summary
Join Very Good Ventures, a leading Flutter consultancy, as a freelance Mid-Level Engineer for a 6-month project. You will collaborate with a talented team to develop software solutions and automated tests for diverse clients. Responsibilities include contributing code, conducting code reviews, participating in planning, and collaborating with other disciplines. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of software development fundamentals, experience with Flutter, and excellent communication skills. This role offers the opportunity to work on challenging projects with cutting-edge technologies in a supportive and collaborative environment.
Requirements
- BSc/MSc in Computer Science or related field
- At least 1-3 years of professional experience as a Software Developer
- At least 1 to 2 years of professional experience working with Flutter, or having released a Flutter application
- Deep understanding of the Flutter framework and how dependency injection and scoping dependencies work using provider
- Positive recommendations from your previous managers and teammates
- Passion for software development, testing and automation
- A Github repository with at least one Flutter project or package (extra kudos if your Flutter project uses flutter_bloc and has a good set of unit and/or widget tests!)
- Good verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with team members and stakeholders
Responsibilities
- Have a proven professional understanding of the basic fundamentals of software development, especially in object-oriented programming languages (class vs object, public vs private methods, unit testing…), as well as more advanced topics (dependency injection, end-to-end testing, architecture, and modularization, database design, REST APIs…)
- Demonstrate proficiency using tools that help you to write software faster with a high level of quality: Git, command line, and UNIX commands, usage of your preferred IDE…
- Contribute code with simple to medium complex tasks to more than one technology stack
- Provide effective code reviews to your teammates
- Start taking an active role in planning and estimating small to medium software features
- Participate, and lead in occasions, code-pairing sessions with other teammates
- Be punctual to the different meetings and team ceremonies
- Provide detailed status updates of your work on team meetings
- Complete project tasks in a timely manner
- Onboard new teammates into the project you are working on, covering details like feature set, architecture, testing strategy, deployments…
- Articulate with confidence the different solutions and implementations you provide
- Seek out help when you are blocked
- Offer your support to others in need when you feel confident that you can help
- Actively share your learning journey and experiences in your preferred channels (local meetups, LinkedIn, Twitter…)
- Show interest and contribute to VGV’s resources (for example, by sharing open source projects)
- Truly care about doing your best work!
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven proficiency with one technology stack (for example, Flutter or Firebase)
- Complete understanding of flutter_bloc
- Strong understanding of the capabilities of critical third party products, such as Firebase, Auth0, AWS, Google Map, etc
- Basic understanding of more than technology stacks
- Experience with native mobile development (iOS or Android) and/or Firebase with TypeScript
