Summary

Join team x, a global communications and marketing agency for Mercedes-Benz, as an Automotive CGI Artist in Berlin. You will create high-quality, real-time visualizations and rendered sequences using Unreal Engine and Maya. Responsibilities include utilizing Unreal Engine's world-building tools, optimizing assets, shader and texture authoring, and collaborating with other artists. The ideal candidate possesses excellent artistic skills, at least two years of experience with 3D modeling tools and Unreal Engine, and a strong portfolio. Requirements

  • Excellent artistic skills with an emphasis on photorealistic product visualization and animations
  • At least 2 years of experience with 3D modelling tools, ideally Maya
  • At least 2 years of experience with Unreal Engine or other real time engine
  • Basic understanding of Blueprint scripting in Unreal Engine
  • Portfolio demonstrating artistic abilities in colour selection, materials, and lighting. Including demonstrating skills in translating concept sketches to realistic 3D scenes. The portfolio should include projects using Unreal Engine
  • Proficiency with at least one 3D modelling tool (Maya, Blender, etc.) and one 2D graphics tool (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects.)
  • Experience in asset workflows, materials development, lighting development, animations, and basic VFX in Unreal Engine
  • Know-how on basic mechanical-animations
  • Experience with 3DsMax, Photoshop, Aftereffects, Vray
  • Be able to prepare 3D models for real-time usage, including textures & material creation, as well as be aware of optimizations
  • Passion for digital product design
  • English / German proficiency

Responsibilities

  • Utilise Unreal Engine’s full suite of world building tools to create top quality content for still, video and interactive projects
  • Model optimised assets, from hard surface to photorealistic environmental elements
  • Contribute to the R&D pipeline and maintain a strong knowledge of the latest tools and processes
  • Shader and Texture authoring for assets
  • Set cameras, blocking, lighting and shooting a scene
  • Work closely with other artists, designers and programmers to implement the Producer or Creative Director’s vision
  • Create convincing Real-Time VFX throughout all stages of the development process, from conception to completion
  • Maintain consistently high-quality visuals across a range of effects, from vast environments to small technical objects – and everything in between
  • Optimise effects to run efficiently whilst maintaining high visual quality
  • Contribute innovative ideas to help improve your workflow and mentoring less experienced members of staff

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with material shaders using HLSL
  • Experience in developing riggings for skeletal meshes
  • Experience with ray-traced scene properties and optimisations in Unreal Engine
  • Familiarity with external advanced material and simulation tools such as Substance or Houdini
  • Experience in advanced Blueprint scripting or C++ development in Unreal Engine
