Join Wilcore as a Mobile Engineer to develop and maintain mobile-first features for the My HealtheVet platform, enabling Veterans to securely access and manage their healthcare information. You will work in a React Native environment, collaborating with designers, product managers, and API developers. This role requires 3+ years of experience building mobile applications using React Native, iOS/Swift, or Android/Kotlin. You should be proficient in JavaScript/TypeScript and familiar with RESTful APIs, mobile state management, and performance optimization. The position offers a fully remote work environment, an annual stipend, a comprehensive benefits package, a 401k plan, and flexible PTO. A Bachelor’s degree is required, and US citizenship with the ability to obtain a low-level security clearance is mandatory.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience building mobile applications using React Native , iOS/Swift , or Android/Kotlin in production environments
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and modern front-end practices
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs , mobile state management (e.g., Redux or Context), and performance optimization
- Familiarity with Firebase monitoring and remote configuration tools
- Understanding of WCAG 2.1 / Section 508 accessibility standards
- Experience building and maintaining secure applications in compliance with HIPAA or federal security guidelines
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines , Git workflows, and agile methodologies
- Ability to work collaboratively with designers, product managers, and backend engineers
- Must be a US Citizen and able to work domestically
- Must be able to attain low-level security clearance

Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain mobile-first, user-centered features for the My HealtheVet platform, enabling Veterans to securely access and manage their healthcare information on the go
- Work within a modern React Native environment and VA.gov’s design system
- Collaborate closely with UX designers, product managers, and API developers to deliver performant, accessible, and secure mobile experiences
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with Veteran-facing applications or federal digital services
- Familiarity with VA.gov design system , GraphQL , or mobile app deployment via App Store / Google Play
- A consultant mindset that keeps the needs of the client and users at the forefront of all decisions
- Experience working in Agile development environments
- Capable of taking direction from senior leadership and translating into concrete next steps and actions
