Mock Trial Instructor

Summary

Join Education Unlimited® as a Mock Trial Instructor for our summer high school programs! We offer both online and on-campus positions at prestigious universities (Stanford, UCLA, UC Berkeley). On-campus roles are residential with housing provided. Instructors lead engaging mock trial sessions, teaching students about court systems, legal processes, and argumentation. Responsibilities include daily seminars, student preparation, and tracking student progress. Ideal candidates possess 2+ years of teaching or mock trial experience, strong leadership skills, and a passion for education. Requirements

• 2+ years experience teaching, leading, coaching, or participating in mock trial
• A practicing attorney, former practicing attorney, or legal expert
• Proven ability to lead small or large groups
• A calm and professional demeanor
• The willingness and ability to work long hours
• Self-motivation and follow-through
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Strong people skills
• Strong public speaking skills
• A passion for education

Responsibilities

• Guide high school and/or middle school students through Education Unlimited’s mock trial curriculum
• Teach daily seminars and workshops
• Be natural leaders and enthusiastic about working with young people
• Give small lectures throughout the week
• Manage and prep students for trial
• Track student work and hand in any deliverables to the camp director and EU home office

Preferred Qualifications

• In addition to teaching responsibilities, instructors should be available and willing to assist the camp director with active supervision, recreational activities, and some administrative tasks
• Instructors should be mature, reliable, and able to work well with fellow staffers
• Instructors are also expected to act as mentors, and will help lead field trips and guide students on excursions
• With the support of the entire staff, instructors are responsible for the health and safety of students, in addition to fulfilling instructional objectives
• We will also consider instructors who wish to commute daily but preference is given for those candidates who are willing to live on campus and assist with dorm supervision
• Online instructors need to have access to a reliable computer and reliable internet connection
• They should have a strong working knowledge of how to use Zoom and Google Classroom
