Molding/Casting DFM Engineer

Requirements

• Higher engineering education - thermoplastic processing engineer, plastic part design engineer, mechanical design engineer (automotive interior, IoT devices, similar)
• Experience in an engineering role on a production floor with plastic processing OR in a development of parts suitable for molding/casting processing
• Expert knowledge of thermoplastic processing: plastic part design rules for a feasible injection molding processing, injection molding tool design basic structure and design, thermoplastic processing most common quality issues and root causes, understanding of Mold Flow analysis and it results
• Understanding of various plastic post-processes: pad-printing, silk-screening, spray painting, chroming, hot foil stamping, etc
• Strong multicultural communication skills in English with ability to convince, justify and defend ideas and technical solutions in front of external / internal stakeholders

Responsibilities

• Analyze incoming 3D CAD part design for Injection Molding, other tooling technologies
• Check Injection Molding Design for Manufacturing (DFM) reports and challenge manufacturer’s technical solutions
• Communicate with external customers via video calls and explain DFM reports/gather feedback and discuss technical solutions with manufacturers across Europe and Asia
• Optimize part 3D CAD design and improve part design feasibility issues, if necessary
• Participate in meetings to fix quality claims for Injection Molding, High Pressure Die Casting, other tooling technologies together with a cross-functional team and external customers
• Attend pre-sales meetings with Sales Team and external customers via video-calls, support technical questions/answers for potential projects

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of other tooling technologies like Vacuum Casting in silicone molds, Compression Molding, Investment Casting, Sand Casting, Metal Injection Molding
