Summary

Join Walden University as a Faculty Member and contribute to educating a diverse community of adult learners online. You will effectively use online technology and resources to impart knowledge and provide feedback to students. Responsibilities include grading assignments, participating in discussions, responding to emails, and utilizing technology to enhance the learning experience. New faculty receive comprehensive training in online teaching techniques, the university's learning platform, and Walden's culture. Course assignments utilize Canvas, with expectations for regular classroom interaction and timely responses to student inquiries. Successful candidates will possess an earned doctorate, a record of scholarly contributions, and at least one year of higher education teaching experience.

Requirements

  • Be appropriately credentialed
  • Work currently as a NP
  • Possess an earned degree from an accredited institution or recognized by a country's ministry of education in the discipline being taught
  • Be licensed or license-eligible in order to teach in specific programs
  • Maintain their licenses and any appropriate certifications in order to continue to teach at Walden University
  • Maintain currency with research by reviewing articles, journals, and presentations
  • Publish and acknowledge Walden University (if participating in research)
  • Obtain RN and APRN licensure in the state of Minnesota and provide evidence of current Advanced Practice certification before being hired as a Nurse Practitioner Faculty at Walden University
  • Earned Doctorate
  • A record of professional scholarly contributions to their field of specialization
  • A minimum of one year experience of teaching in higher education
  • Current clinical experience in NP practice
  • Commitment to advocating for the learning and development needs of students earning their degrees in a distance learning environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication, leadership, team, collaboration and interpersonal skills
  • Board Certified FNP
  • Have a personal computer with virus protection and Internet access

Responsibilities

  • Educate Walden University students by effectively and proficiently using online technology and resources so that knowledge, information, feedback, and critique are imparted to and shared with students in thoughtful, carefully formulated, well written, and timely communications
  • Grade assignments
  • Participate in discussions
  • Respond to student emails
  • Use technology designed to enhance the learning experience for students
  • Teach courses using Canvas
  • Interact with students within Canvas
  • Be in the classroom a minimum of 4 days/wk
  • Post responses to student questions within 48 hrs
  • Maintain regular and predictable availability, such as online office hours or regular online chats

  • Teaching experience
  • Online teaching experience

Benefits

  • Graduate Course Instruction: $1,560 - $4,080 per Quarter or Semester, depending on type of course taught and length of course
  • Undergraduate Course Instruction: $700 - $2,200 per quarter, depending on type of course taught and length of course
  • Opportunities for dissertation/doctoral study committee chair positions, research reviewing, and dissertation and doctoral study mentoring
  • Hybrid work model with three in-office days and two remote days per week (transitioning to a four-day in-office schedule, Mondayโ€“Thursday, starting Q1 2025)
