Summary

Join Walden University's College of Nursing as a part-time faculty member and teach advanced pharmacology courses to nurse practitioner students. This contributing position reports to the Clinical Core Specialty Coordinator and involves collaborating with other faculty and administrators. Responsibilities include course instruction using the Canvas platform, timely responses to student inquiries, providing feedback and grades, and maintaining a program of scholarship or practice. The ideal candidate possesses an earned doctorate, higher education teaching experience, and current pharmacist/PharmD or active nurse practitioner practice and scholarship. Walden offers training in teaching techniques, online platform usage, and university policies. The work environment is primarily virtual, requiring reliable internet access and proficiency in Microsoft Office products.

Requirements

  • Earned Doctorate in the field of Pharmacy or Nurse Practitioner degree from an accredited institution
  • Current pharmacology patient care experience
  • A record of professional scholarly contributions to their field of specialization
  • Evidence of current licensure in one of the 50 states in the US required
  • Have an adequate computer to handle an electronic learning platform, keyboard, pointing device, and computer monitor
  • Able to use Microsoft Office products (MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint), zip software, and Adobe Acrobat and must have reliable Internet access as well as alternate access in cases where primary access becomes unavailable
  • Appropriately credentialed, possess an earned degree from an accredited institution or recognized by a country's ministry of education in the discipline being taught, and are expected to be licensed in order to teach in specific programs
  • Maintain their licenses and any appropriate certifications in order to continue to teach at Walden University
  • Maintain currency with research by reviewing articles, journals, and presentations

Responsibilities

  • Teach advanced pharmacology courses for nurse practitioner students
  • Work with other faculty as well as administrators in the College
  • Maintain a program of scholarship and/or practice in the area of their specialty
  • Assist with faculty orientation, development, mentoring/monitoring, and evaluation
  • Participate in college and university committee service
  • Educate Walden University students by effectively and proficiently using online technology and resources so that knowledge, information, feedback, and critique are imparted to and shared with students in thoughtful, carefully formulated, well written, and timely communications
  • Adhere to all Walden University Faculty expectations
  • Be in the classroom a minimum of 4 days per week and responses to student questions must be posted within 48 hours
  • Verify the accuracy of student postings and submissions and to provide feedback and grades to students through Canvas
  • Publish their availability to students through course information

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of one year experience of teaching in higher education
  • Recent clinical/practical experience
  • Commitment to advocating for the learning and development needs of students earning their degrees in a distance learning environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication, leadership, team, collaboration and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with distance learning preferred

Benefits

  • Graduate Course Instruction: $1,560 - $4,080 per Quarter or Semester, depending on type of course taught and length of course
  • Undergraduate Course Instruction: $700 - $2,200 per quarter, depending on type of course taught and length of course
  • Walden also offers other opportunities for its contributing faculty members, such as dissertation/doctoral study committee chair positions, research reviewing, and dissertation and doctoral study mentoring
  • In our U.S. locations, we operate on a hybrid work model with three in-office days and two remote days per week
