Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 20 years of experience in the field or in a related area
  • Extensive knowledge of water, wastewater, and public works industry. Established understanding of construction and maintenance practices, procedures, and techniques as well as applicable local, state and federal regulations
  • Frequent travel by car and air
  • Team building and client management skillsets

Responsibilities

  • Ensure Safety and Compliance are the #1 and #2 priorities
  • Provide routine updates to the National Operations Leader and work with the Business Unit to address client or project needs
  • Serve as annual business planning consultant to National Operations Leader and the President of O&M
  • Develop an annual business plan and coordinate the financial aspects of annual business plan
  • Oversee all financial aspects of the O&M Region projects and participate in monthly Gross Margin meetings
  • Work with Controller and National Operations Leader to develop all needed financial reporting formats and metrics needed for monthly and annual reporting and analysis of business units and project performance
  • Work with Area and Plant Managers, and our Consulting team, to review and update Capital Improvement Plans at each project
  • Develop an annual hiring plan based on feedback from Area Managers, Project Managers, and HR recruiting as part of the business plan
  • Work with Area and Plant Managers and corporate support teams in identifying and solving staff/delivery system issues
  • Develop annual Work Plans with Area Managers for projects, and manage performance to plan as it relates to project completion and bonus award
  • Collaborate with Area Managers to cultivate and retain talent via Individual Development Plans (IDPs), regular feedback sessions, comprehensive company-wide training initiatives, and strategic succession planning
  • Lead monthly O&M operations meetings for regions and participate in SBU coordination meetings to manage work balancing across Groups
  • Serve as the lead Support Manager to Area Managers for advice and project-wide coordination of many SBU operations functions including contract management, risk management, recruiting/hiring, compensation, training and development, etc
  • Support client management through site visits, annual reports, budget meetings, capital planning, conference calls, and participate in client events
  • Work with Business Development and Area Managers to evaluate, estimate, propose, and negotiate contracts for new work
