Beacon Biosignals

๐Ÿ“Remote - United States

Summary

Join Beacon Biosignals, a leading at-home EEG platform, as a neuroscientist to contribute to advancements in brain health. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support life sciences engagements with industry partners, focusing on novel therapies for neurological, psychiatric, and sleep disorders. Analyze and interpret petabytes of EEG data to draw meaningful insights from real-world data and accelerate neurobiomarker discovery. Work in a robust asynchronous work environment with in-person office hubs in Boston, New York City, and Paris. The role involves close collaboration with neuroscientists, data scientists, engineers, and other subject matter experts. Success will be measured by contributions to statistical analysis plans, co-authoring scientific reports, delivering impactful data visualizations, and writing reusable code.

Requirements

  • You have hands-on experience with neural signal data, including storing, processing, and analyzing it to answer scientific questions
  • You've seen how artifacts in the signal can affect results, and you have experience handling them
  • You're familiar with and/or excited to learn about the neurophysiology of sleep and how it's dysregulated in various neurological and psychiatric diseases
  • You're familiar with statistical hypothesis testing and modeling, including interpretation and model diagnostics
  • You're comfortable designing and overseeing experiments that leverage data across disparate sources and modalities to answer scientific questions
  • You're painfully aware that thoughtful data curation is a prerequisite to analysis results that hold up under practical application
  • You love teamwork and recognize that people can achieve more together than individually. You value close collaboration, open communication, and tight feedback loops to ensure you and your team are working together effectively and doing your best work
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication and listening skills
  • You have experience presenting to varied audiences; you've learned the hard way what does and does not make an understandable and impactful presentation
  • You stay calm and organized to meet tight deadlines amidst ambiguity
  • You have experience writing code meant to be read and used by others, and are familiar with both the "how" and "why" of version control, unit tests, and debugging
  • You're familiar with and/or are excited to work with the technologies that power Beacon's data and reporting systems, including Julia, AWS, Superset, Pandoc, SQL, and GraphQL
  • You prefer open source dependencies over closed source dependencies because you have a compulsion to read the code you're running
  • You're comfortable working in a highly asynchronous hybrid work environment, and have demonstrated success doing so in the past

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with teams of neuroscientists, data scientists, engineers, and other subject matter experts to develop statistical analysis plans for clinical trials, execute analyses, and write up results and interpretations
  • Co-author scientific reports whose impact pushes the field past contemporary limitations
  • Deliver clear and impactful data visualizations and presentations to varied audiences, both internal and external
  • Write and review reusable, documented, tested code that produces polished, high quality analytical results for our partners and powers our core computational pipelines
  • Leverage Beacon's products and your own subject matter expertise to inform analysis planning and execution
  • Dig into large, messy, unfamiliar datasets, document their idiosyncrasies, and harmonize them with Beacon's datastore
  • Lead and support the scientific and technical aspects of multiple concurrent studies, including both planning and execution
