Summary

Join Bounteous as a CAD and GIS Designer, creating and modifying detailed drawings for outside plant facilities. You will collaborate with engineers and clients, ensuring design accuracy and adherence to standards. Responsibilities include designing facilities using AutoCAD and GIS, interacting with municipalities and Telco engineers, and obtaining necessary permits. This role requires proficiency in AutoCAD, GIS, and relevant engineering tools, along with telecom design experience. Requirements

  • Be proficient in AutoCAD, ARAMIS, GIS, O-Calc and IQGeo engineering tools (Aramis and IQGeo is a plus)
  • Have Telco engineering and design experience including reading and creating outside plant drawings, conduit prints, permit drawings and applications
  • Possess a thorough understanding and experience in the outside plant telecom industry, public right-of-way, private easements, and existing utilities such as water, sewer, electric, gas, and other underground and aerial utilities
  • Be knowledgeable in city, county, state, and local municipalities encroachment permits, Traffic Control and specialty permits (e.g., UPRR, Caltrans, etc.), easement right away and various environmental permits
  • Be proficient in MS Office; including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills for interfacing with different work groups internally or externally
  • Be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Be self-motivated and a self-starter
  • Have the ability to sit for extended periods of time while viewing a computer monitor and performing various desk work
  • Have dexterity of hands and reaching to operate keyboard/calculator and file documents
  • Have the ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 lbs
  • Have eyesight sufficiently strong enough to permit extended close work and normal color perception

Responsibilities

  • Create and modify detailed drawings using CAD and QGIS tools and software from sketches, layouts or notes provided by field engineering
  • Create and contribute to high-level design to facilitate placement or building outside plant facilities
  • Check drawings and system inputs for correctness and conformance to standards
  • Work with engineers, project manager and clients regarding model accuracy, design, and industry-standard and client specific drafting
  • Work with system management including file maintenance, backup, and storage and records research and updates
  • Designing, drawing and layering outside plant facilities in AutoCAD, GIS and client systems.  Facilities include but are not limited to conduit, fiber optic and copper cables (aerial, buried and underground), manholes, hand holes, and poles
  • Assist in the planning, analysis, and recommendations in support of new construction or removal of outside plant network structures and facilities
  • Interact with the local municipalities, Telco engineers and construction/maintenance forces to acquire OSP Records, ICGS, Assessor Maps, map info, AIS, and Construction Prints
  • Review site surveys and translate field notes to develop and update conduit/ cable engineering design drawings in AutoCAD. NDS or other client drawing system
  • Design avoiding facility conflicts in public right-of-way, private easements, and existing utilities such as water, sewer, electric, gas, and other underground and aerial utilities
  • Complete pole loading, bonding & grounding and anchoring analysis when placing aerial facilities
  • Request and obtain permits from city, county, state, and local municipalities along with Traffic Control and specialty permits (e.g., UPRR, Caltrans, etc.), easement right away and various environmental permits

Preferred Qualifications

  • Have fundamental knowledge of placement, removal and splicing of outside plant facilities (aerial, buried and underground) including but not limited to conduit, fiber optic and copper cables, manholes, hand holes, and poles, pole loading, and bonding & grounding
  • Have 2 years or more of telecom design experience
  • Have an associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Have experience with GPON and Corning Flexnap products
