Summary
Join Utilities One as a highly skilled OSP Engineer II and contribute to the design, implementation, and maintenance of our OSP infrastructure. This role demands expertise in fiber optic network design, project leadership, permitting, regulatory compliance, and contractor collaboration. You will lead the planning and design of fiber optic networks, ensuring quality control and safety standards. The ideal candidate possesses a strong background in fiber optic network design and the ability to manage multiple projects effectively. Requirements
- Have 2β5 years of experience in OSP engineering for telecom construction projects
- Possess advanced knowledge of OSP design, construction methods, and materials
- Hold a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
- Be proficient in AutoCAD, GIS, MicroStation, or other engineering-related software
- Have experience with permitting processes, regulatory compliance, and construction management
- Possess knowledge of industry NESC, NEC standards, and regulations related to fiber optic networks
- Be able to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Responsibilities
- Lead the planning and design of fiber optic networks, including the selection of appropriate cable types, sizes, and routing
- Determine the best pathways for cable placement and inform the designer of any roadblocks while identifying other utilities that may be in conflict
- Conduct surveys of existing infrastructure to identify the best locations for the new cables & equipment and to ensure the overall success of the fiber optic network
- Ensure quality control and adherence to safety standards during construction
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to OSP Engineer I team members
- Test and troubleshoot fiber optic network issues, and resolve any problems in a timely manner
- Coordinate with internal teams and external contractors to ensure the timely installation and maintenance of fiber optic infrastructure
