Summary

Join our Engineering Department as an OSP Permit Specialist I and contribute to the success of our telecommunications infrastructure projects across the U.S. You will play a key role in managing and coordinating the permitting process, ensuring efficient project execution. Responsibilities include researching permitting policies, coordinating with agencies, submitting permit applications (including Joint Use pole applications and ROW permits), tracking permit statuses, and maintaining effective communication with internal teams and external authorities. This position requires a minimum of 2 years of experience as a permit specialist in the utilities industry, along with knowledge of utility regulations and proficiency in relevant software tools. Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years of proven experience as a permit specialist in the utilities industry
  • Knowledge of utility regulations, codes, and standards, NESC, Municipal codes
  • Knowledge Joint Use practices
  • Proficiency in KMZ’s, Smartsheets, Excel
  • Proficiency in using software tools for tracking, mapping and managing permits and project functions

Responsibilities

  • Research permitting policies, GIS data, and contacts; coordinate with agencies to complete required questionnaires
  • Coordinate meetings with internal teams and town planners to review project boundaries and permitting needs
  • Submit Joint Use pole applications with specifications, ensuring compliance with pole owner requirements
  • Submit Right-of-Way (ROW) permits to DOT and other relevant authorities
  • Track and manage permit submittals, approvals, and communications in internal databases and SharePoint
  • Monitor jurisdictional portals for updates and ensure timely responses to revisions, draft changes, and route modifications
  • Track permit statuses, expiration dates, and IDs to ensure compliance with client timelines
  • Facilitate communication between internal teams and permitting jurisdictions throughout the project
  • Install and maintain WhatsApp, Microsoft Teams, and Outlook for work communication, remaining active and responsive
