Payload Operations Engineer

Summary

Requirements

• Solid understanding of common communication protocols across various layers of the stack (e.g., CCSDS, CSP)
• Experience with satellite commanding systems and procedures
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash and Lua is preferred; strong Python programming skills are essential

Responsibilities

• Collaborate directly with the satellite to design, test, and implement robust operational procedures
• Enhance the satellite’s onboard Fault Detection, Isolation, and Recovery (FDIR) and autonomy systems to ensure greater resilience and performance
• Advance the FDIR and autonomous functionalities within the satellite commanding software to support intelligent mission operations
• Develop and optimize tools for ground-based and in-flight testing, including automation frameworks, to elevate the reliability and efficiency of satellite command execution

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with satellite operations, including both onboard and ground-based Fault Detection, Isolation, and Recovery (FDIR) processes, is highly advantageous
• Experience with Java, C, or C++ is a valuable asset
