Summary
Join DeVine as a remote Graduate Instructor to design and deliver a 4-module, 4-day executive leadership workshop for DoD personnel from January 13th-16th. You will lead hands-on sessions focused on enhancing leadership and communication skills. The role requires creating all course materials by January 3rd. Successful candidates will have extensive experience in executive education, particularly within the DoD or Navy, and possess a PhD in a relevant field. Compensation is $60-$70 per hour for an estimated 160 hours. The position is remote and requires US citizenship.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of demonstrated successful performance teaching DoD or Navy executive education within the past 5 years, with a focus on Interpersonal Leadership, Decision-Making and Communication
- Experience in Executive Education, working with civilians and uniformed leaders
- Ph.D. in Psychology, Philosophy (focusing on applied ethics, or moral psychology), or Leadership Studies (emphasizing ethics, behavioral science, and leadership development)
- Emotional Quotient Inventory (EQ-I 2.0) certification
- Experience facilitating groups through real-world workplace situations
- Experience teaching case-based exercises
- Knowledge of current research in ethical decision-making, leadership development, resilience ideally with ongoing research in the field
- Demonstrated competence in leadership, ethical behavior, and effective communication, supported by Curriculum vitae, statements of experience, and recent executive education teaching evaluations
- Familiarity with complex issues faced by large organizations such as DoD and the US Navy
- Understanding of the unique organizational context of the US military
- U.S. Citizenship
Responsibilities
- Create all content and materials for a 4-module workshop by January 3rd
- Teach four 4-day workshop modules: Emotional Intelligence, Motivating People, Learning and Feedback, Managing Conflict and Difficult Conversations
- Lead a hands-on workshop designed for people managers seeking to enhance their leadership and communication skills
- Equip participants with tools to better understand themselves, manage their strengths and biases, and develop critical skills for leading others
- Guide participants in creating personalized leadership development plans
- Emphasize building a climate of trust, empowerment, confidence, and commitment within organizations
- Collaborate with the existing NPS CEE course instructor and program manager within predetermined learning objectives of the course
- Conduct individual debrief conversations around personal and sensitive assessment results
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience with similar/same content materials (e.g. PowerPoint slides, case studies, vignettes, exercises, readings, resources)
